Embracing the New Year, According to Donna

Embracing the New Year, According to Donna

How to Embrace All the New Year Has to Offer

The start of a new year is a time filled with promise and possibility—a chance to reflect, set intentions, and align ourselves with what truly matters. We believe this isn’t about reinventing yourself or chasing unrealistic resolutions. It’s about honoring the person you are today and embracing the journey ahead with joy and purpose.

Mom is currently enjoying a creative break from the studio, but wanted me to share the following thoughts with you.

This year, we invite you to join us in embracing the magic of the New Year—not as a list of tasks to check off, but as an opportunity to live fully and unapologetically.

Here are some of the lessons Mom has shared, lessons that continue to inspire the way we can all learn to live, love, and create.

1. Life Is an Adventure

Mom’s favorite piece of advice is one that never fails to shift perspective: "Life is an adventure." It’s a reminder that every twist and turn, every triumph and challenge, is part of the story that makes life so rich.

When you embrace life as an adventure, you begin to see beauty in the everyday. Whether it’s trying something new, spending a quiet morning in your favorite cozy corner, or layering on jewelry that makes you feel bold and confident, the little moments become part of a bigger journey.

This year, take that spirit of adventure into the world with you. Say "yes" to the experiences that excite you, no matter how small they might seem. Try a new hobby, visit that café you’ve always passed by, or finally wear that statement necklace you’ve been saving “for the right occasion.”

2. Let Go of Inner Resistance to Aging

Aging isn’t something to dread or resist—it’s something to celebrate. Every year we’ve lived is a testament to the life we’ve built, the wisdom we’ve gained, and the love we’ve shared.

Mom’s approach to aging is a gift: let go of the inner resistance. Stop fighting it, and instead, embrace it. When you let go of the societal narrative that says aging is something to fix, you make space for gratitude—for the laughter lines earned from decades of smiles, for the strength of a body that carries you through every adventure, and for the confidence that comes with knowing yourself.

Let’s make 2025 the year we celebrate our lives exactly as they are right now!

3. Align Yourself with the Person You Are Right Now

How often do we get caught up in who we think we "should" be? It’s easy to lose ourselves in endless self-improvement or in chasing after some idealized version of ourselves.

Mom always reminds me to honor the person I am today. Not who I might become or who I think I should be—but who I am in this very moment.

That’s where the magic happens. When you align with the person you are right now, you let go of the pressure and allow yourself to live freely. This alignment shifts as we change and evolve, but always come back to honouring ourselves in the present moment. This might look like choosing jewelry that feels like “you” rather than what trends dictate or making time for the people and activities that truly bring you joy.

The most beautiful thing about this philosophy? It frees you to live authentically, unapologetically, and confidently.

4. Tune Out the Noise

There’s so much noise in the world—society’s expectations, the critical voice in your own head, and the relentless push to “do more” and “be more.” But that noise isn’t serving you.

Mom’s advice? Tune it out. Quiet the internal chatter that tells you you’re not enough or that you need to follow someone else’s path. Let go of the weight of other people’s opinions. The new year is the perfect time to remind yourself that you don’t have to carry those burdens.

Instead, focus on what truly matters to you. Maybe it’s spending more time with your family, taking long walks surrounded by nature, or wearing jewelry that makes you feel empowered and beautiful. Whatever it is, make it yours, and move forward into 2025 without hesitation or doubt.

5. Celebrate the Present Moment

The most important lesson I’ve learned from Mom is to cherish the here and now. Life is made up of moments, and the new year is a wonderful reminder to be fully present for them.

Celebrate the small joys—the quiet cup of tea in the morning, the laugh you share with a loved one, or the way your favorite bracelet sparkles in the sunlight. These are the moments that create a life well-lived.

One of my favorite ways to ground myself in the present is through small acts of self-care. Whether it’s picking out a piece of jewelry that speaks to how I feel that day, taking five minutes to sit in stillness or taking a little longer on my skin care routine, these rituals help me stay connected to myself and the life I’m building.

Step Boldly into 2025

This year, let’s take Mom’s advice to heart. Let’s embrace life as the beautiful, unpredictable adventure it is. Let’s celebrate ourselves exactly as we are, letting go of resistance, doubt, and expectations that don’t serve us.

2025 is a blank canvas, and you are the artist. Paint it with joy, with freedom, and with moments that make your heart sing. Wear the pieces that bring you confidence, surround yourself with love, and move forward into the year with a renewed sense of purpose.

Here’s to embracing everything the new year has to offer—with style, with grace, and with the unshakable belief that the best is yet to come!
