Supporting Mamas this Mother's Day

"How is it working with your mom?" For those looking for a little drama or gossip, my answer always comes as a disappointment. I couldn't imagine working with anyone else. And I love it!

The decision to work together was easy for Mom and me. She has always been my best friend and confidant. So, why not add business partner to that list? We do everything together, and compliment each other so well. Mom with her artistic flair for design, and me with my background in digital marketing. Neither of us could have made this business work without the other, and it's what makes it special. Mom doesn't particularly like technology, and I don't have the patience to handcraft our jewelry. We complete each other.

And, when it came to the decision to name our company, that was also easy. The name "Carolily" is in honour of my grandma Carol and great-grandma Lily (Mom's mum and grandma). Both Carol and Lily passed before I had a chance to know them; they never had the opportunity to see how the strength, love and compassion they instilled in Mom was then passed down to me. So, we've dedicated ourselves to sharing the Carolily love with women in our community, and welcoming them into our Carolily family. We've always felt grateful for the close relationship we have, and want to ensure no one in our community ever feels without.

Our desire to uplift women is what brings us to our Mother's Day campaign. But, first, allow me to share about Mamas for Mamas and the incredible work they do.

Mamas for Mamas Campaign

When Mom and I started Carolily back in 2015, we committed to supporting those in our community any chance we had. In the early years, this looked like donating jewelry for silent auctions, volunteering at events, and pledging monetary amounts to various organizations.

In the last four years, this focus has shifted to one primary organization- our charity of choice. Every fall, we select a new not-for-profit to focus our efforts on. In December, we announced that Mamas for Mamas would be our 2024 charity partner!

Originally based in Kelowna, Mamas for Mamas is now a nationwide charity that supports mamas, caregivers and their children who are facing poverty related struggles. Mamas provides innovative approaches to financial barriers, working with other not-for-profits and government agencies to fill the gaps in service when the need is higher than the resources. Their Karma Market is a place where struggling families can access anything they need at no cost. In their free store, Mamas provide clothing, shoes, seasonal wear, formula, diapers, and baby furniture. Their team also offers individualized help navigating the available resources for food security, affordable housing, education, and access to their in-house mental health team where counselling is available at no cost.

The work Mamas for Mamas has done throughout our community and across Canada is incredible. We are proud to have them as our charity partner. And now, we are asking for your help to support mamas and their children in all our communities!
