Embrace Your Personal Style with a Carolily Statement Necklaces

Embrace Your Personal Style with a Carolily Statement Necklaces

A statement necklace is an affordable luxury and the wonderful thing is that we can all wear them! It is about self expression and attitude and embracing who you are! Wearing a statement necklace can enhance your outfit as well as your confidence.

Here are some style tips for you to try:

Pair a T-shirt with a sparkling statement piece for a clean look that can take you from day to night.

A v-neck calls for a piece that follows the neckline and fills in the ‘empty canvas’ between your neckline and jaw line.

Work attire can go from boring to sophisticated rather easily. To add interest and colour to a white button up blouse/shirt simply put on a statement necklace. Add a blazer or chic cardigan and you are ready to take on what the day has in store for you.

A classic shift dress has the perfect neckline for a statement necklace. Adding a statement piece takes the dress to the next level.

Stripes are a great background for our necklaces. For example, a black stripe on white looks smashing with pearls and crystals.

May we also suggest being adventurous when wearing our necklaces, try layering pieces. Pair a smaller piece with a big chunky necklace, double up two chunky ones, or long with short for more impact. We would suggest if you do this, perhaps don smaller earrings such as pearls.

Wearing a Carolily Statement helps you express who you are...have fun with it!

How to Care for Your Piece of Carolily

Carolily creates affordable luxuries which need to be cared for.  Here are a few tips to keep your jewelry looking beautiful for years to come.

  1. For heavier, more substantial statement necklaces, it is best to lie flat in a storage box or drawer. Lighter pieces can be hung, but, storing in a drawer helps to keep them dust free. You want to avoid tangling, kinking and crimping which can cause breakage.

  2. If your necklace has semi precious stones, avoid storing in bright sun.

  3. Hairspray and perfume are harsh on jewelry and should be applied before putting on the necklace.

  4. Clean jewelry with a jewelry cloth or a simple damp cloth will be sufficient to remove traces of beauty products and body oil.

If you have any questions on how to care for your Carolily, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Three Steps to a Stress Free Holiday Look

With Christmas quickly approaching, along with parties, dinners, and nights out, it’s time to dust off that sparkly dress, and glam up your party look. Don’t worry - I have you covered with my three steps to a stress free look. From timeless red lips and classic winged liner, to a bold beautiful smokey eye, and for the final touch, a statement necklace from local designer, Carolily Finery.

# 1. BOLD RED LIPS – The classic red lip never goes out of style, and paired with a winged liner, you’re set to make a grand entrance.

Fair skin tones - Try a cool blue based shade like Blu Red or Cranberry LipSense. (Bonus, these shades also make your teeth look whiter!)

Medium to olive skin tones - Stick to warmer based reds like SheLaLa, and Red Cherry LipSense.

Darker skin tones – Go for plum reds to brick tones as they will have great pigmentation and not look pasty. Try Brick, Mojave, or Rhubarb.

# 2. SMOKEY EYES – If you want all eyes on you, then go for bold smokey eyes with a touch of sparkle, and pair with a soft neutral lip. For a softer look, try a brown tone, like Smoked Topaz or a deep grey like Ebony Essence. For that all out smokey eye go for a black like Onyx.

# 3. SPARKLE – Don’t be afraid to add some sparkle to your LBD, by adding a statement necklace or earrings. Accessories can help take your look up a notch from simple to glamorous. Try necklaces that have mixed metals or stonework and sparkle, such as those shown below from Carolily Finery. You can really add your personality to your look with make-up & jewelry. Do you want to feel playful, bold, feminine or sexy? I am always amazed how the simple things can make you feel more confident and beautiful, so don’t be afraid to let your inner diva sparkle and shine.

For more information on how to glamorize your holiday look, please feel free to reach out to myself or the ladies of Carolily Finery.

How To Win The Style Stakes With Carolily

How To Win The Style Stakes With Carolily

Hello, Beautiful.

You want to be crowned the Belle de Jour at this year’s Deighton Cup Style Stakes and we want to help you make this happen!

We have a few recommendations to help you stand out at this year’s event.

Let’s get started!

Know who you are! What makes you feel beautiful?

Everyone has their own unique sense of style that should be celebrated and embraced. You will want to wear an outfit that represents who you are as an individual!

Choose accessories that compliment your outfit and give it that “wow” factor. You will know it’s the right piece of jewelry when you feel beautiful and confident wearing it.

Carolily’s recommendation:

Pippa is crafted from semi-precious sapphire,  jade, amethyst, amazonite, crystal quartz, onyx and freshwater pearls. Pair Pippa with a black jumpsuit, white goddess dress or bright pink mini to make a dazzling statement.

Make an investment in your style and buy quality pieces.

Our pieces are created with only the finest materials, making them a worthy investment for not only the Style Stakes, but for years to come. The pieces we create are handcrafted and possess a timeless beauty, making them a classic staple in your wardrobe. Whether you are attending the Deighton Cup or a high tea, you’ll want to reach for your piece of Carolily.

Carolily’s Recommendation:

Sabrina is a classic beauty made of lustrous freshwater pearls, varying in size and delicate shades of white. While pearls look stunning with any outfit, we recommend a white lace dress for an elegant look.

Express yourself & buy custom.

There is a certain sense of pride that comes from wearing jewelry that was custom made especially for you. If you truly want to stand out this year, and every year to come, talk to us about our custom jewelry. There is no better feeling than wearing something no one else can have. Let us give you that feeling.

Carolily's Recommendation:

Zeta is not for the faint of heart. A combination of large rugged natural stone, smooth crystal quartz and Swarovski crystal make Zeta one of our favorite one-of-a-kind necklaces. Matched with a vintage inspired black dress or white pant suit, you will be sure to turn heads.

We look forward to helping you win this year's Style Stakes! Please reach out should you require any assistance planning your outfit; we are more than happy to help.

We will see you there!

Rachael Hatala is a Fabulous Female

Rachael Hatala is a Fabulous Female

Every month, we feature a Fabulous Female whose business savvy and confidence inspires us. We believe in supporting fellow female entrepreneurs and their incredible business ventures. If you know of a Fabulous Female whose story deserves to be told, please email us to nominate them.

This month, we are excited to feature Rachael Hatala, owner and designer of Laughing Sparrow, as our Fabulous Female. We are even more delighted to announce our recent collaboration with Rachael! Laughing Sparrow has created an exclusive line of delicate jewelry for our customers, inspired by our Carolily Rose . It was an absolute delight to work with Rachael and Laughing Sparrow and we look forward to future collaborations.

Please introduce yourself and tell us about Laughing Sparrow.

Hello, I’m Rachael Hatala, the creator of Laughing Sparrow. Laughing Sparrow is a modern and minimalistic jewelry line that I have designed and make in my studio in the historic brewery district of Sapperton in New Westminster BC. I work primarily in recycled sterling silver and ethically sourced gemstones.

When did you know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

I have always loved making things. As a child I did embroidery, sewing, knitting and lots and lots of beadwork. I remember someone asking me at a very young age what I wanted to be when I grew up to which I replied “I don't know! I’m only 6. But I want to do something I love and get payed for it!” At the age of 12 I was selling my wire wrapped sea glass creations in my grandmother's store on Mayne Island. In my 20’s I took my first silversmithing class and would wear my latest designs to my waitressing job, where my customers would literally buy my work right off of me. After the birth on my daughter in 2013 I dreaded the idea of returning to the service industry and decided to take the plunge to becoming a full time jeweller. I work 7 days a week on my business and have never been busier, more stressed...or happier in my life!

What were your steps to make your idea/dream become a reality?

To be honest I never really had a concrete plan. As new challenges and situations arise I embrace them and figure it out as I go. The scariest part was jumping in full time without any sort of safety net. Not succeeding just wasn't an option.

How do you differentiate yourself and your company?

I think when someone is truly passionate and loves what they are doing, they automatically stand out in the crowd. I make each piece of jewellery by hand in very small batches and pay close attention to detail and quality. I've been asked many times why I don't hire someone to do production for me and the answer is that I simply love making each piece. I think it’s that love that people feel and see when they buy a piece of jewellery from me.

How do you balance family and career?

Thats a good one, and something I’m always working on. It's easy for me to get super wrapped up in my work and never take a moment to remember why I am doing it. I was talking to a friend recently about feeling guilty that my 3 year old daughter is at daycare and she reminded me that I am teaching Sofia to be a successful strong woman who is following her dreams. I do keep at least 1 day a week that is exclusively for family time, and make sure that we all communicate. I wish I could say that I leave all my work at the studio, but my dining room table will call me out as a liar!

When struggling with a challenge, how do you overcome the challenge?

I make lists. Sometimes I make lists of my lists! I find that taking the time to write everything out and break it down into small manageable tasks that I can check off helps me to feel less overwhelmed and to focus less on the thing that feels unattainable or unmanageable. I will admit though that sometimes I get overwhelmed by my list. That's when I know I need to take a breather and usually can find some clarity by doing something else for a bit.

What is the most rewarding aspects of being a female entrepreneur?

I think knowing that my daughter will grow up knowing that she can do anything she puts her mind to.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I would love to see my brand in stores across Canada and even the world. Hey dream big right!

How should our audience get in touch with you?

My website is a great resource for getting in touch with me. I am reachable by email, or you can make an appointment to visit me in my studio. There is also a calendar of all the markets and festivals I participate in, and a list of all the stores that are currently carrying my jewelry.

A special thank you to Owl & Lily Photography for the photos of Laughing Sparrow.

Carolily Attends Rock House's Tea Party

Today we were delighted to attend a lovely tea party in support of a worthy cause. We donned our favorite hats, most fabulous necklaces and spent an afternoon with a room full of wonderful people. What better way to spend a Sunday?!

Cheryll and Sam, the creative minds behind Rock House Style, opened their beautiful home to over 100 guests to host a fundraiser tea party in support of The Responsible Animal Care Society (TRACS). TRACS is dedicated to the kind and compassionate treatment of all living beings. In addition to hands-on rescue work and crisis intervention, TRACS actively promotes public awareness in areas where animals are exploited for profit, abused, or denied natural conditions.

The afternoon began with a silent auction of items ranging from our Wren necklace, to one-of-a-kind pieces of art, to spa packages from our friends at The Ten Spot, and private vineyard tours. We were thrilled to see Dana, owner of Heelio Dealios, take our Wren necklace home! It was heart warming to have a community come together and give so much for an organization that is entirely volunteer run.

Following Cheryll and Sam's opening speech, Cindy, president of TRACS, joined the two up front to say a few words about the work their organization does and the assistance they still need. Cindy, Cheryll and Sam all teared up as they spoke, and it was clear that the well being of all living creatures was near and dear to their hearts.

We had a wonderful afternoon and would like to thank Cheryll and Sam for hosting such a beautiful event, and Cindy and her team for all the hard work they do. If you are interesting in volunteering or donating to TRACS, please be sure to visit their website.
